Free Your Mind! Ingenuity Fest This Weekend!

12 Sep

We’re two days away from one of Cleveland’s most imaginative, innovative and interesting celebrations, Ingenuity Fest! Get ready to feast your eyes and ears on some of the most creative local and national artists, be them musical, performance, technological or any other wild medium you can think of! Ingenuity is a culmination of art and technology. Prepare to have your mind challenged as you sit and listen to lectures, have your ears bend to new sound waves as you take in the bands, let your mind absorb and expand as new art is presented in front of you! Ingenuity takes place this year at Cleveland’s Lakefront Docks 30 & 32 in two warehouses, as well as outside with brilliant views of the city! I.F. runs Friday (5pm- 1am), Saturday (Noon- 1am) and Sunday (Noon- 6pm) with events at all hours of the fest! You’ve got all weekend to check out this amazing event, so bring your friends, families, teachers, neighbors, anyone and everyone because this is one Cleveland event you will not want to miss!

Totally Tremont Weekend!

12 Jul

Head on out to Tremont this weekend folks ’cause there is lots goin’ on! Kicking things off this weekend is Tremont Art Walk on Friday. From 6-10pm, over 20 different businesses, including galleries, bars and restaurants, will help celebrate Cleveland’s thriving artists as work from all over the city is displayed. Check out their website for directions, venues and featured artists. Be sure to grab some of the wonderful eats while you’re in the neighborhood too!

Then, again on Sunday, Tremont’s the place to be to tickle those tastebuds with the Taste of Tremont. This 10th annual celebration will showcase some of Cleveland’s hottest- and yummiest- restaurants! Taste of Tremont goes from 12-8pm and is totally free (well, if you don’t want to eat it is! If you do, I suggest stopping by an atm before arriving in Tremont). Pay as you go, sampling Tremont cuisine fair-style. There is also a $5 beer garden, live music and many of the shops will be offering deals and steals! For a complete list of venues/vendors click here. While parking can be a bit tricky, this is one Cleveland summer event you will not want to miss!

See ya in Tremont!

Also, don’t forget to check out Our Lady of Mt. Carmel’s Italian Festival in Gordon Square- the Little Italy of the West Side! Although it started yesterday, it will run through Sunday. Carnival Rides, games and street vendors and food trucks will be on site!

Tremont’s Treehouse is a Club House for All!

14 Jun

Cool, fun places to dine and drink are one of the best parts of Cleveland! And they are vast, located all over the city ranging from local favs to impressive stops for out-of-towners . Tremont’s Treehouse is a must for anyone. No matter your type, you will love the fun, carefree atmosphere and the exquisite art. The Treehouse features a life-size tree sculpture amidst its half racetrack bar. Its large backdoor patio also has a Guinness mural that encompasses the entire side of the building. You can expect to find a wide range of people from blue collar workers to college hipsters to families and buisness professional happy-hour goers. Monday through Sunday, The Treehouse offers daily specials, which include food and drink and are pretty spectacular (especially since they’re all week!). If you’re not in the mood for the daily special, try some of their other foods offered on their well-rounded menu. While it might be deemed “bar-food” it’s good eats for good money and most items are around $5- $9. Cheers to the Treehouse!

East Side, West Side, Your Side, My Side: Cleveland Booms with Fun this Weekend!

5 Jun

Summer is here! Well almost… in about two weeks summer will officially be upon us, but until then, there are is so much summer fun happening in Cleveland! Because Cleveland has so much cultural diversity and so many small niche neighborhoods, Cleveland is a great place to spend the summer. Hopefully all of you were able to make it out to the West Side Market’s Centennial this past weekend, but if not, there are more events coming your way! This Saturday, June 9th start on the East Side and Parade the Circle then make your way to the West Side to party at DGSA Day or vice versa! There will be a free Lolly the Trolly going back and forth from both locations every half an hour to transport festival goers to a number of amazing activities that will be taking place over the course of the day! A slew of music, dance and other performances will be taking place in both locations along with food vendors, open art galleries, free cartoons at the Capitol Theatre from 10am- 2pm, a fashion show and many other programs. This is a great way to help support and learn about these two Cleveland communities and what they are trying to do to make Cleveland a more sustainable, safer, more lively and artistic place to live, work and grow. For more information, visit Gordon Square or University Circle’s page.

T.G.I.Free: 78th Street Studios 3rd Friday

19 Apr

This Friday, April 20th, marks the 3rd Friday of the month which means 78th Studios Third Fridays! Third Friday is a free exhibition of art throughout all of the galleries located in 78th Street Studios (on W. 78th off Lake just after it splits from Detroit) from 5-9pm. It is a wonderful opportunity for both artists and art aficionados alike to showcase and adore todays up-and-coming art scene! Meander throughout the labyrinth-like walls of 78th Street Studios and take in all types of mediums ranging from ceramic to paint to photography! Often, Third Fridays showcase local artisans work which are available for purchase too- sort of like a high-end craft fair. If art’s not your thing, I still recommend checking this place out as it is a really cool building to explore and on Third Fridays, Touch Supper Club brings its food truck to cater hungry patrons along with a DJ that plays a set all night. Craft beer and wine are also available for donations (don’t be stingy- help support the arts!). This Friday there will be a free shuttle provided by Lolly the Trolly escorting people around Gordon Square from 6-11pm at these locations. So support Cleveland and its local artists and check out Third Friday tomorrow! If you can’t make it this month, keep in mind that this is an ongoing event taking place every third Friday of the month! Sign up to receive information from 78th Studios here too!
